How long does bacon stay good if bought from a meat dept in a deli?!
Answers: My dad buys a ton of bacon from this grocery store in the deli/meat area(so there is NO DATES to be shown or known 2 us). He's had this bacon now since at least 1-24-08,which from my experience of pkg meat, it should be expired but no idea being NO date since someone else packaged it out of the meat/deli area. Does any1 know how long it's "safe". I honestly think it should be thrown out but my dad disagrees. He's pig headed too. ALSO, if it is "BAD" what's the problems that can occur if he eats it right now? like stomach cramps, food poisoning or what? I won't eat it personally myself but he don't listen he eats it anyhow. Please help, be NICE, I'm not a dumb person & deserve some respect cause I find a lot are "mean & not very understanding" on this site. Thanks for any help if you reply. ONE last thing, I heard that "worms" are in bacon. If u pour pop like pepsi sit it with raw bacon in a cup for 2 days, u'll see "worms" in the cup. IS that TRUE too? Please let me know any input,Thanks
i think 2 wks. after being bought depending on how long it was at the store afta bein packaged
Generally bacon lasts longer because it is cured. No more than a month though. Food poisoining. Not sure about the worm deal try snopes.com
bacon is in the gray area of foods, in some cases it isnt raw when you buy it, it has been smoked. In others yeah it is raw and should be handled as such.
now the worm issue, pork does have worms. but in most instances what you buy does not. It has to pass through federal inspections.
but as we know from the news not all is caught with these fed inspects.
