That happened to my husband. The first Christmas after he was diagnosed Type I diabetic, everyone bought him diabetic chocolate, and he ate it all. He was on the loo for days. It's because the sugar substitute is a laxative. He now only eats ordinary chocolate, but not much and only when his sugar is low.
try Thorntons diabetic's one, it is very good, my father in law always has it and we have tried it a couple of times and we've never got sick.
its got sorbitol in it which is a sweetner which they use instead of sugar but the side effects are that it acts as a laxative tr toy thorntons choc taste better
so whats your question??
How much you eat?? Sweetners used instead of sugars are laxatives. If you eat a lot it can have this effect. Even if you didnt eat loads you might just be extra sensitive to this effect though.
Yep. It's due to the levels of sugar alcohol, which is what they use instead of real sugar. I'm sure the back of the package said, "Excessive consumption may cause laxative effect." That generally means that you are not allowed to have more than one or two pieces.
There are a lot of really good diabetic cookie recipes that are much safer. The Splenda Blend For Baking is good. Also, the use of molasses it a good idea. Look into it. I've got a diabetic friend who is an absolute maniac for my diabetic oatmeal cookies. I must admit, they are pretty awesome! I bake all my sweets as if I'm making them for a diabetic because I don't want my kids (and myself) to ingest too much sugar.
Yes, if you read the package it will say it acts as a laxative. Does my mom the same way.=)
happened to me not very nice,i now have thorntons but not to much
