Anyone have any fun ideas for edible food activities with children?!
Answers: ages are 4-6. thanks so much.
1. decorate cookies
2. get a tortilla or piece of bread spread peanut butter then give them raisins and what not to make faces and stuff.
3.cut out cookies
4. Making butter .. it is actually fun for little kids you take a jar with cream put like a marble in it and they take turns shaking it .. u can tell a story or something and when the butter is done you all can eat it *with bread or something*
5.you can learn to measure things with fruit by the foot... it is fun actually lol...\
6.If they can handle toothpicks you can make all kinds of fun sculptures with fruit and veggies ...
Make cookies. Have them cut the shapes and sprinkle with colored sugar. Let them put it on the pan and you bake them. I let my 4 yr old little sister bake with me all the time and she loves it.
Throw lollies at them, thats always fun, just don't throw them too hard. Maybe a treasure hunt with food at the end. Or like an easter egg hunt style thing with a whole bunch of them hidden in a small(ish) area and just tell them to go find them. With this hunt make sure the food is wrapped.
How about good ol'fashioned jello jigglers!
buy a mold and make some cool Jello eggs or something!
how about making cookies then you can cut them with a cookie cutter, make jello and cut them out, brownies/cakes/cupcakes decorate with frosting, making a pizza, they can make faces and etc with cookies, pizza, and etc

you can make fun things out of real food, healthy food, like make "cup cakes" but make them as shepards pie, with the meat and whatever else at the bottom, then mashed potatoes and whatever else on top as the icing, you can make a cake that way too, a cake using differnt layers of like ground beef, mashed potatoes, veggies, or whatever you like. Search in google for somr fun ideas like that, it's a sure way to get your kids to LOVE their veggies. when it looks like cake or candy, it tastes just as good! good luck :)
make desert for dinner. get an ice cream scooper and some ice cream and caramel topping and make it look like mashed potatoes and gravy, also there is a website that sells peas and carrots candy, looks just like the real thing. and the grilled cheese made from pound cake and frosting. it would be really fun and i think ur kids would be really suprised.
It's called worms in dirt.
you need:
-gummy worms
-oreos
-jar thingy.
okay so basically.
you have to
smush up the oreos so that it looks like DIRT. hence the name worms in dirt ;) nudge nudge.
then put the oreos in a jar.
and then put the worms in.
so the worms are in the oreos.
again, hence the name worms in dirt.
;)
wink.

Make candy sushi. Take Rice Krispie treats (individual pkgs) and roll out until relatively flat. Then place a red Twizzler stick in the middle and roll up sushi style. Next wrap in a green fruit rollup. Cut in half on a diagonal and it looks like Nori wrapped sushi roll. The kids can do all of this (except cutting) themselves with just a little supervision.
take milk, and mix it with food coloring, and let them paint bread with it.. then toast it. just as long as they dont like, completely soak the bread, it'll turn out perfect!! and since its milk, its totally edible.. and the colors stay perfectly.
my mom does it with her daycare kids, they LOVE it.
