I need to spoil some burgers like in "Super Size Me", can the containers be air tight and the food still rot?!

Question: I want a great spoiled photo for a graphic design project. I would like to minimize the rank that this will place on my apartment. Do I have to subject the food to some air ventilation or will a sealed container spoil just as easily, or maybe just slower?

I like the idea of leaving it out in a sealed container. it will deffinately spoil but will take a few days. But in order to get the picture you will eventually need to take the lid off. Do that outside on a breezy day with a plan on what to do once you get done with the piture. You will need to reseal the container and be prepared to throw it away. You will never be able to use the container again. One more thing. If you leave it out to spoil, be prepared that the lid can pop off because of the gasses produced by the rotting meat. Think about what you would come home to if one day when you were at work and the lid popped off and that smell got into your carpet and furniture and everything else. The smell would be there in some way shape or form for a very long time! But that is your problem, not mine. I lost a package of chicken in the back of the fridge once in college and left for an extended weekend. When I got back I had to clean the fridge. I did it repeatedly but never really got that smell out of the fridge.

It will still spoil in a sealed container...just put it in the sun...wait a few days and viola'...
