Could be profitable to have paddy fields!

the U.K does grow rice, along with a wide and surprising variety of other crops. The Eu subsidises the production of rice in Europe generally but it is not really a crop that can be cultivated on a large scale in any country that does not have large areas of land and a plentiful supply of water to allocate to it. There is also the simple question of value per acre of any crop, and rice, at what it would cost to grow in large quantities in the UK, is simply not financially viable.

maybe but its not really our tradition

Be sure we can next time you come over for a game of golf make a detour to Ireland we have acres of paddy fields !all subsidised by European Union.

I doubt it, we haven't got the right climate.

I don't see why not!
