Hmmm...
Italian Restaurant- Restaurants that claim to be "Italian" and then have pizza called CHEESE on their menu really bothers me. Italian pizza needs to be labeled with Italian names, such as Pizza Margareta. Also, I am a Garlic Bread fanatic! Good garlic bread is the ONE REASON why I go to Italian restaurants.
Bakery/ Sweets- I am a very strange person. I don't like chocolate. When all but one thing in a sweets shop is chocolate, I get annoyed. Good bakeries have a variety of little kid things- sugar cookies in the shape of clovers for St. Patrick's day- to high quality cakes and pies.
In an italian restaurant, I look for the buffet. In a bakery, a mexican one, I look for one that makes authentic mexican sweet bread that tastes like it's from way down south. I can taste the difference since I am Mexican. I've only come across one place that is almost the same as the sweet bread places way down south.
1) Pasta, ITALIAN FOOD made by italians!, umm, spag bol
2)Liquirice, chocolate, hard boiled sweets, toxic waste yummy! xx
In a italian resturant i first look at the atmoshper of the place. Is it italian style. Next is the smell of the place. If it smells like sweet smell of italian sausage and pasta it draws me in. Then i look at the menu to see if there are real italian dishes on it. If all these things are there i order something that is suppose to be a authentic italian dish. Now for the taste. If it is so yummy i cant get enough the place is sold but if it has a tinny taste to the sauce and the cheese taste imitation. i dont go there again..
For a bakery shop i first look at the place to see if it is clean. See if there is a variety of items made on the shelves. and the menu.. The smell too is a big winner in my book. If it smells good like when my mom bakes bread, donuts and sweets I buy something sweet. If it taste as good as it smells then the place is sold. If all these things are not there then I go elsewhere.
Italian restaurant that serve "Real" not just American style Italian food. pasta made with a Garlic wine sauces that are light not cream sauces that american usually think of. The atmostphere that has soft lighting, but isn't dark.
As for Bakery/ cakes made from real butter cream frosting. There use to be a Bakery that made cakes with butter cream frosting Using real butter not just vegetable shortning and they were decorated with a flowers that had a center of Almond paste. They were always busy.. They also had cheese pockets. A triangle pastry dough, that was airy that had a cream cheese filling and it had a thin butter cream icing. SO yummy. They also made a cressant with cream cheese filling and drizzled in Chocolate.
