Chicken eggs....?!
Answers: Once a chicken lays an egg how soon after should it be refrigerated? Just wondering...my husband's family has a farm and I don't agree with the way they do things...
On our farm we would collect them, wash them and then place them in the refrigerate. In Mexico they never refrigerate the eggs at the markets. If you are worried about the eggs being bad then just place your egg in a bowl of water. If it floats it is bad, if only one side of the egg comes up it is good.
Standard about a week. Really depends on the weather. Cooler can stay longer. My standard was based on hot weather.
Depends on how warm it is in the storage area. We used to keep our eggs out up to about 2 weeks, away from heat. The big deal is the chicken growing inside. It's really gross to crack open half an under developed baby chicken into the frying pan.
Then again, we would eat the eggs pretty quick, too. So we probably had them for about a week or so. We used them for everything - bread, pasta, cakes, breakfast, etc..
Once they are washed they should be refrigerated...Fresh just laid are more acidic and can left unrefrigerated for a few days after that the PH changes and they will start to be susceptible to spoilage so most farmers will chill them if they are in a hotter climate, of course...I've had eggs (on a ship last for months in a cooler but every week I had to go in and turn them over because once the yolk settles against the shell it will go bad from the air. we didn't know about spraying them with mineral oil then...
