Eat a lot of tomatoes ....................?!

Question: I eat a lot of tomatoes ..... in salads, with curries, in all my sandwiches ....... thinking that they were good for me ( hear they are a good preventative for prostrate cancer and the like ). But I have recently been told that they can be very acidic and cause increased symptoms in people with arthritic tendencies ( like myself ). Anyone able to give advice on this one?

I love tomato's. They are awesome full of vitamin c and other good stuff. If the acid burns my lips where i have a crack in them. I just think I Have a great tomato. I grow my own. The gassed ones in the supermarket have no flavor. Best snack in the whole world. Better than anything man made. My opinion lol. Eat your tomato's with a clear head. They will help you not hurt you. Best to you.

I think a wise saying to bear in mind is: Too much of anything can be bad for you. Yes, even water! Try to eat a good varied balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg (like I don't!).

They are good for you in a few ways so unless it is a medical person who told you of their acidic downside just carry on eating them
I am under the impression that they are good for detoxing

it doesn't matter what you eat there will be someone who says it is bad for you.

if we listening to all the information about food we never eat or drink anything. have what you like and just enjoy it

If you listened to everyone with there different ideas you wouldn`t eat anything, eat what you want, they may be good for prostate cancer this week next week you turn into a bottle of tomato sauce with all the tomatoes you have eaten. There are too many scientists being paid too much just to frighten people into eating what they want you to, they probably have a contract with Tesco, when they have stuff left over and going out of date they tell the scientists what they have and it makes us rush and buy it all

Tomatoes contains a lot of antioxidants which help in maintaining health and preventing diseases such as cancer and coronary heart disease. Although some studies have suggested antioxidant supplements have health benefits, other large clinical trials did not detect any benefit for the formulations tested, and excess supplementation may occasionally be harmful.
