Aspartame? Is it really as dangerous as I hear it is?!

Question: My mom recently bought me those little Crystal Light powders and I usually use them in my water bottles now...
I finally read the box and saw it only had 5 calories per serving and wondered why. It had aspartame...
Is that stuff really dangerous?
I usually have a bottle a day.

Aspartame is a horrible horrible substance I am sad to say. The fact that it is put into so many food items and is kept hidden, unless you know what you are ooking for is a shame.

About 3 years ago in America, many people were misdiagnosed as having MS because they were consuming so much Aspartame in their diet. The Aspartame gets locked up in the muscles if consumed in large quantities. It paralyses the muscles, which is why the patients were misdiagnosed with MS.
(MS is a nervous system disorder when the outer layer of the connecting nerve cells are broken down. The outer lining is needed as it is smooth and allows the nervous signals to flow quickly. This eventually causes paralysis.)

I suppose in small quantities it is ok. I tend to stay away from 'diet' products, including 'sugar-free' and 'diet drinks'. If it is sweet and sugar-free, it contains Aspartame, unless it is a pure fruit product. I'm sure you will be fine with a bottle a day...

Hope this helps.
