Why have supermarkets stopped selling thin sliced bread?!
Answers: You never find them nowadays, its only medium sliced and think sliced.
they havn't, it's now labelled " medium "
well, thats now the same thickness as what used to be known as thin
Because it's too thin to sread Marmite on lol
to make you have to buy more bread. thin sliced takes ages to be used up.
If you notice, the medium is as thin as the thin used to be and the thick is what the medium was. You have to buy the xtra thick or xxx thick to get a decent piece of bread these days.
Supermarkets stopped selling thin sliced bread because eventually there was little demand for it.
sometimes it is called Sandwich Bread
If you're American, maybe it's because all America's food is getting bigger.
Hey, the bakery has a bread slicer. They will slice any bread loaf for you. And I'm not certain, but I think it would be adjustable to slice thinly.
because it isnt very popular anymore or it could be that most of the population are now buying bread makers and making there own bread.in which tastes better and its cheaper then shop bought bread.
Possibly because the demand has gone down and their shelf live is not that long. Our stores here sell them and I'm in a small town with a higher elderly population and that was also the case in Naples, FL. But, I'm sure if you asked someone in the Bakery Department at your local grocery store, they would be more than happy to accomodate you (or they should be) and slice you some thin breads. If you are lucky enough to have a true bakery in your traveling route, that to me is the best bet for freshly sliced, what ever sized breads that you want, plus it's so much better for you, not filled with preservatives and chemicals. Hope you find it!
Don`t know where you live?, but our supermarkets always have thin sliced bread in.
Probably little demand for it. But I have heard that nowadays, medium bread slices are a bit thicker than they used to be, the same for thick, this is contributing to some degree to rising waist sizes.
It does seem a bit thicker, too, and thick slices now do look like doorstops at times!
You can buy a full loaf and ask the bakery to slice it thin for you. Many do that.
they call it medium sliced bread now
