I had some about two months ago, when I tried to make potato skins crossed with a cheesesteak. The concept was good, but the meat did suck. It was greasy and a bit rubbery, not at all like a cheesesteak should be, even though I cooked them well in the pan first. Next time, I think I'll just get some sirloin tips from the butcher. Still cheap, but much better quality.

mmmmm...... i am gonna make subs tomarrow with steak ums! no they r good still!....lol

the last time I bought steak umms was the last time I ate Steak umms

chopped pressed meat. yuck! last time i had those was around 1975. my mom thought they would be a quick yummy meal. wrong. they still make them but do you really want to buy them?

I have never had steak um. Mystery meat city, no thanks.

I haven't had one in a couple years!

My father had some a couple of days ago. They DO still make them. It is hard to describe what they taste like. They are good but kinda greasy!

They make them, but I dont like the smell of them when they are cooking or the taste. :(

i cant remember

Funny you should ask, because I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak last week at a local diner and it was made with Steak Umms! I couldn't believe it.......but ate it anyways. It was greasy and flavorless, beef wise, but the rest of the ingredients gave it flavor. To tell you the truth, I have never read the ingredients on their box and now, I'm afraid to. I used to buy them long, long ago before I got into professional cooking, but now, I don't buy them because they are probably along the same lines as Bologna, mystery meat! Although, some Bologna is really good, it depends on who you buy it from. Who knows......you just have to trust your taste buds and stomach for these types of products. We question items like these frequently, but we don't know what chemicals are being sprayed on our fruits and vegetables, so what's the tradeoff? Happy Sunday to you.....hope I haven't killed your appetite for this evenings meal!

i love steak ums but they are a bit overpriced.. i buy an off brand usually found in the meat department freezer. top it with swiss-american cheese and grilled onions....mmmmmmmmm
