Why do bananas...?!

Question: Why do bananas get slimy if you cut them, but if you just break them they don't?

Answers: Why do bananas get slimy if you cut them, but if you just break them they don't?

I have never torn a banana, so I am used to the way they are sliced. I would think it is a reaction to the metal if anything....and that hasn't killed anyone yet....so I am not worried....

Because they are exposed to the air so they get slimey
