Is it really worth eating a power bar before you run?!
Also, How long should I eat a power bar before I run?
Answers: It's 230 calories, then I usually run 2-4 miles. Is it worth the extra calories for the energy? Is it really giving me extra energy? I can't really tell for sure. Any help will be appreciated!

Power bar - maybe half of one for that distance. I hate power bars - sticky and oversweet - try Luna citrus flavours- more crispy and light.
An hour before you are going to run is good if you can.
If you have to eat something and run right away bread and peanut butter works.
A banana would be good or bread and peanut butter for that distance.
It is a personal thing to learn what you can eat, how much and how long before.
Unlike the person below I would not suggest fruit other than banana because they are heavy and the fast sugar will make you crash. Banana will release slowly.
If you carry water try putting a bit of fruit juice in it - maybe a third and that will give you a boost during the run instead of a crash.
Sharkies - gelatin candy - I would eat one or two during a 10 mile run.
thpse power bars taste like dirt to me
no that is just stupid its like i dont care what to eat so im going to be blond and eat some more ..... think
dont eat it. drink water and eat fruits instead. that'll give you more energy. energy bars are mainly for men that want to bulk up
No it will sit in your stomach and make you nauseous... To run 2-4 miles you don't really need to have any extra food in your stomach for that short of a run... If you're running longer than 5-6 miles I reccomend eating a little carb/sugar - peanut butter or 1/2 a pop tart or granola bar. The sugar will immediately be converted to energy. You can also use Gu or Power Gel for longer runs.
i eat them when i run at least 41/2 miles each day so i would think so
