Does sugar really help for concentrating on exams?!

Question: I've always been told that sugar gives energy and that one should eat a lot of sweets before an exam, because it will help on concentrating. What exactly does the sugar do? Does it just give more energy? Can affect the score for an exam?

no. the sugar causes your brain to peak for a brief period of hyperactivity then the peak will drop, resulting in your brain acting sluggish, causing you to forget the correct answers. You should eat peppermints before or during the test, it has been scientifically proven that peppermints stimulate your brain to help you better concentrate on your test.

No way. It's the exact opposite. Sugar gives you a temporary rush and then you CRASH and BURN.
Better to eat healthy foods, foods full of fiber which will burn slowly and keep you revved up and feeling good.
Foods such as whole grain cereals, breads, crackers, veggies and fruit.

i think it will make you more hyper and nervous and don't think it would help you concentrate more

No, it doesn't really help you for concentration. It helps you stay awake for the exam. If you're one of those people that gets hyper off sugar, then sugar only helps you to stay awake.

hito!!!!hello!!no!im from health careers high school, and we learn this kinda stuff.sugar just gives u temporary energy then wipes u out like the comet did to the dinosaurs.all dead, just like ur brain.but there hav been researches thaqt shopw chewing gum helps memory gain while learning.like u chew gum while listening to something and ull remeber it more then usual.but sugar makes u too hyper active to focus and think about the situation.so no sugar, its naturally unhealthy, and fat inducing.

eat better foods before exams so that you can concentrate..and you can chew gum when you're writing an exam it helps me concentrate sometimes
