Does the processing method of decaffeination affect the flavor of coffee beans?!

Question: It could but probably not in any important way. I say that because they use a water extraction method on the green beans and then try to "put back" everything but the caffeine. The flavor is developed during the roasting but of course whatever flavor develops required certain precursors to be present. That's why I say not in any important way.
