Addicted To Coke?!

Question: Hi, I'm 16 years old, physically active Cardio 3x per week, and swimming light/moderate effort 1x week... And I eat a healthy diet, 2%-Skim milk, veggies, fruits, protein, water, etc.. But I polish off a 12 pack of soda in about 3 days. Im now able to make the 12 pack last about 5 days but its extremely hard. I'm trying to get to a level where I only drink one coke a day, Ive bought diet rootbeer by hansens which is extremely delicious (no sugar, no aspertame, no calories, No caffeine nothing..Really good taste though) and its a good way to .. prevent me from drinking one for about 2 hours. I'm ADDICTED. If I dont get my coke, I'm jittery and in a really bad mood ... >_< Anyways to help me be able to only drink 1 a day?
Thanks.

Wish I had a magic wand for ya! It's the caffeine.

Are you addicted to Coke or is it just caffeine? You mentioned trying to switch to Rootbeer, which has no caffeine.

See how well you can fare with coffee or tea.

I decided to cut caffeine out of my diet all together- I don't like having to depend on something to feel normal. It takes a good three days to get over the withdrawal (frequent napping), but once you're clean, you'll never miss it.

Your a caffiene addict not a soda addict. Its the caffeine that your body craves. What you need to do is break free of the habit. Start off slow make it 3 sodas a day then work your way down to 2 sodas and so forth til your down to 2 sodas a wk before long you won't feel the jitters anymore then you can start drinking caffeine free drinks like rootbeer. Its called the weening process kinda like kicking the habit but slowly. Good luck.

Very simple. Just quit drinking it. If you think I'm kidding, imagine this. I'm not "addicted" to anything, and yet I consume and have consumed many addictive chemicals such as caffeine, sugar, nicotene and whatever. Oh, one recant here. I was "addicted" to long distance bicycle riding and racing years ago, or so my ex-wife said. So, I showed her I wasn't addicted to her, and just kept on riding, and quit later. You're not addicted to anything unless you want to be. God Bless you.

I was the same way, I didn't drink that much but I felt like I really needed soda. I really wanted to stop and it sounds like a crazy thing to be addicted too but I really felt like I was. Someone I knew was hypnotized for the same problem and it worked. Anyway I went to Italy in January and soda was crazy expensive and for some reason I really didn't crave it there , and I started drinking the sparkling water(which I thought I hated but it grew on me) and I have kind of been over soda since then, I still drink it sometimes but I don't get that craving need it feeling for it. I do drink the sparkling water here now too , so for my maybe it was more the fizziness, but even that I don't drink everyday like I did with soda before. So anyway I know how you feel and if there is someway you can just take a break from it (I was in Italy for 8 days) then maybe the craving will go away, and try the sparkling plain water too(It took me a while to get use to it) Or you can try the hypnotizing too.

You should try to slowly back off the coke. Instead of 4 a day, try 3 a day for a week, then 2 a day for a week, then 1 a day for a week, then 1 every two days. You should try switching to a different drink, like gatorade or water, for the times you aren't drinking coke.
