Can honey go off?!
Answers: I don't believe it can, as it is a natural product. But it has a sell by date. Is this just a marketing ploy, to sell more products?
Why are people giving thumbs down for the right answer? The correct answer is that honey is the one food that never spoils. Look it up. The person that talked about ancient honey being edible is correct. But, the person who said it harbors bacteria is incorrect. Honey is actually a natural antiseptic (antibacterial) because its sugar content is too high for bacteria to survive. So, yes, the date on your bottle is just a ploy. Honey never goes bad, unless it's got crap added to it that could spoil. But, if it's real honey, then it shouldn't have additives. Like the others have said, once it crystallizes, put it in a pot of hot water with the lid off until it regains its natural consistency. I wouldn't recommend microwaving it. Honey is a great product--more people need to realize its importance.
Honey is a food that never spoils. Keep it forever.
i have lots and lots of honey never spoils :D
hope it helped
After a time, it gets grainy as the sugar starts to separate - it can be restored by being reheated.
Honey goes bad, if you don't use it, it will start to harden and crystallize.
Water has an bottle expiration date because of the packaging.
scientists found honey in mummy tombs and it was edable..REAL honey will not spoil. if it does that means sugar and other things have been added to it
No. If it crystallises (goes hard) you can soften it again by gently heating it, either stand it in a pan of hot water or microwave it gently (without the lid!)
Sell by dates are when a product is at its best. Keep your honey as long as you want, it doesn't last THAT long at my place.
Honey won't go bad per say, but it can harbor bacteria. That is why experts say do not feed it to infants. So do not stick your finger in it for a taste or use a spoon that is not clean.
It will crystallize but not go off
never ever spoiles
