Use herbs and spices to make your food tastier and eliminate the table salt.
Fresh foods have much less salt than prepared ones like mushrooms for example.

The Muse

P.S. Here's a start and you'll get lots of other suggestions.

Just don't add salt to any food. Don't eat fries or chips, etc. Salt is very addictive so even one bit gets you addicted.

Try a little soy sauce instead.

Eat more fruit, drink more water.

Dont eat any crisps, chocolate - anything that doesnt have any salt in at all really !!

Take it down slowly, adding less and less salt. Try to avoid eating food with salt already in it(chips or fries). Drink more water, I think that makes the hunger for salt less.
Good luck.

try little lemon juice

I must not have too much salt due to a medical condition - therefore if like me you like salt try adding pepper instead - dont eat takeaways especially Chinese and ready made meals, tinned meats and veg

Here are some ideas.

When you marinade meat (for example chicken)
use less salt, soy sauce, and preservatives.
Instead use more natural herbs like thyme, cloves, garlic, onions, ginger... and spices like black pepper, coriender, rosemary, paprika, and even allspice.
This way when it is cooking, less salt will be added into the flavor, and the chicken will still taste amazing due to the natural spices/herbs!

When you make chicken noodle soup, add more water into the mix to lesson the amount of salt intake.
You might be thinking it will taste not as good with less salt but, believe me soup still taste so damn wholesome and tasty even with less salt!
In fact it taste more "organic".

Eat less things like butter, cheese, chips, baked goods and take out stuff because, many of these things often have high amounts of salt in their ingredients.
And basically avoid stuff with lots of preservatives in them.
Keep your intake of these items in moderation.

Do most of your eating at home where you can monitor because your cooking the meals! This is the best way to control both your portions and sodium level. Use your spices and aromatics in place of salt. Check for recipes on places like foodnetwork.com that are low sodium. Eliminate any salty snacks that have over 50mgs of salt per serving. If you need to eat out, opt for things that will not be hazardous, such as broiled vs. fried chicken, broiled fish rather than beef, nothing with marinades (unless you can verifiy that the ingredients are low sodium) and definitely avoid anything considered fast food (most ff burgers are coronaries in the making). If you opt for frozen food entrees, Lean cuisine and healthy choice make some decent tasting low sodium meals. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Limit processed foods such as canned soup, Rice-a-Roni, Zatarain's, Hamburger Helper, frozen microwave dinners, processed meat.

Switch from standard table salt to a gourmet sea salt (McCormick's now has a delicious, affordable grey sea salt) --the flavor is much stronger so you can add just a dash to prepared food.

Potassium Chloride. I actually think that it tastes better than regular table salt and it has zero sodium.
