Food ideas for Easter????!
Answers: So I'm making Easter dinner this year and this is what I have on my list: ham, shrimp salad, pasta salad, potato salad, rice, tater babies, bread, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, cream corn, olives/pickels, chips (snack) and Cherry pie for desert. Sprite, Pepsi & Water for drinks. Am I missing anything? Is there anything else your family usually has? Thanks!
It all sounds wonderful, but a little heavy.
Maybe some salad, a crudite platter, and a fruit salad, or some sliced melon, to lighten it up and balance it out a bit?
A nice salad that is very simple to make is celery, green apple, and toasted walnuts with honey mustard vinaigrette. Use one large bunch of celery, including the leaves, and two or three thinly sliced green apples. Add some chopped toasted walnuts, and a dressing that is just about equal parts honey, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice, tinkering with the proportions to suit your own tastes. Add a little oil, if you feel it is necessary. The lemon juice in the dressing keeps the apple from turning color.
Also, some unsweetend iced tea could provide an alternative for those who don't care for soft drinks, and would like something other than water, but that would depend on your guests. I like iced peppermint tea, which is caffeine free, and tastes great, but almost any herbal tea is wonderful iced.
Remember to leave some time to relax and enjoy yourself on the big day. Good luck!
no your not missing anything...sounds great to me!
well (for home) I am cooking leg of lamb, candied sweet potatoes or sweet potato casserole, cabbage, red potatoes or potato salad, and maybe creamed spinach. I am making a louisiana crumb cake for dessert; that I will bring to my aunts house; if we go there for dinner. I don't know what anyone else is bringing.
Sounds good, how about a
green vegetable = green bean,broccoli, etc
tea = sweet or unsweet
