What is the green shiny film on my bacon rashers?!

Question: I see it a lot in the supermarket on bacon. Does anyone know what it is?
I don't mean mould- its like a clear, shiny film. Any ideas? xx

Unless it's VERY green, it's likely just the iridescent colour of the thin film of grease that's on the surface of meat. You often see it on fattier cold-cuts like pastrami, etc.

Maybe the shiny film is for protecting the bacon for if maybe bactieria gets on it.

Fat..
