I really have problems with snacking... could someone help me please?!
Answers: God, I can like keep on eating small things throughout the day without a second thought. I'm not overweight or anything (lol, yet) but I think the biggest reason for this is I do it when I'm bored or when I'm going out somewhere it's like I have no control or I'm just thinking at the moment: 'It won't make a difference anyways' and then I regret it afterwards. So do you have any tipps that will help me maybe get more out of my 3 daily meals or what I could do to stop myself from grabbing another bag of cookies?
I have the same problem. I feel like I eat basically non-stop. There are several things to try, but the problem is that is it a mental habit, and thus harder to control. You have to get to the root of the problem and try your best to control it from there (Easier said then done I know! =p) But here are some things to at least try to see if it helps. First off, during your meals try to eat a lot of Fiber. Fiber is what helps us to feel full after eating. For example, Orowheat makes a bread called "Double Fiber" and it has 48% of your daily amount of fiber in one serving. That means if you have a sandwhich for lunch, you will already be half way done! Fiber expands in our stomach and digestive system and thus helps us to feel full. As for snaking, I am working on the same issue. Instead of snacking, try making a pot of green tea. It helps to cut cravings, is loaded with antioxidants, and because it is hot, it will take a lot of time to finish it but your mouth and stomach are still busy. I have also been trying to do the opposite and snack on frozen fruit (Pineapple, blueberries, cherries etc). It takes a long time to eat (so you end up eating a lot less) because it is frozen. Sometimes I add some soy milk or soy cream and it freezes around the fruit and is extra sweet. This also cutts down on how much I snack. I have heard that taking the herbal supplement Hoodia also cuts down on the craving to eat, but I have never tried this, but if none of the suggestions above helped it is worth looking into. It is an all natural herbal supplement. But I would try the fiber, green tea, or frozen fruits first! Good Luck! Hope this helped some cause I know from first hand experience that its tough! Good Luck again!!
Snacking is OK but what you snack on makes a difference. Set a time and plan for snacking. Say at 4 o'clock plan to snack on fresh fruit or carrots (you can get bags of baby carrots that are already peeled). If you plan your snacks you can control them and have a healthy snack on hand so you won't grab another bag of cookies.
If your bored develop a hobby to keep you hands busy, knitting, or needle work. Sounds stupid but if your hands are busy you can't be picking up cookies.
You might also try gum. It keeps your mouth busy and it reminds you that in order to snack you have to do something w/ the gum.
They say that it’s best to eat a smaller portion every 3-4 hours. So instead of three meals, you’d have 5-6 mini meals. You can just divi up what you normally eat or snack on some healthy options like fruit, nuts, whole-grains. It’s bad to eat out of boredom. Force yourself to slow down and concentrate on the food- actually taste it - savor the item. You’ll eat less that way. You got to keep your hands busy if you’ve gotten into the habit. I used to eat all the time in front of the tv. Now, I fold clothes, sort through mail, or exercise. Knitting is supposed to be a great thing to do while watching tv. I tried and all my stuff was horrible, so I quit. If you can change your food habits for 2 weeks, then you’ll get used to it and it’ll become your new habit.
firstly you have got into a behavior pattern "which is a hard thing to break" boredom = food no matter what it is only will power that will stop you snacking "we all in cyber space know that you have got what it takes to stop snacking,.cookies have a high sugar content so apart from a build up of extra fat you are also helping to rot your teeth and building a higher chance of diabetes if you must consume something try some vegetables or fruits.
