How do you start a protest? would anyone like to help?!

Question: My friend and I have just heard that mars and nestle supports deadly animal testing. Why is this right? We want to start a protest. Official Doctors have stated that testing animals is not going to help anything? How are humans and RATS anything alike. We dont eat the same things because we aren't the same. So now if you are intrested contact us and spread the word around. It's wrong and it must stop.

Well, just because we're different organisms doesn't mean we won't be poisoned by the same substances. ie. Arsenic is a poison to any creature - whether a human or a rat. Some animals can or can't digest certain foods, but mammals basically share a common diet. And what exactly do you mean by "deadly animal testing" - what are they testing on the animals? The only form of animal testing I oppose are the testing used by shampoo/conditioner companies that use animals to test cleaning products.

If you're referring to animal testing for medicines or diseases etc, then that's incorrect. Testing new drugs on medications is the only way we know about the effects & side effects before moving onto clinical trials on humans. My friend's father is a lead director at the National Institute of Health in the GRC in Baltimore, MD and he uses lab animals such as rats to test the effects of anti-cancer drugs in cancerous rats. I used to intern at the NIH headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, so I know that animal testing is actually a necessity.

Unless you can find some humans willing to volunteer their bodies for experimental new drugs, animal testing is here to stay.

im with ya all the way!if you can type out a informational paragraph type thing i'll post a bulletin on myspace lol i know it sounds lame but people do actually read them..

Animal testing assures that foods and medicines are safe for humans, and such scientific testing should be -- and will be -- continued and improved. If you knew just a little tiny bit about biology, you'd understand that in the most important ways (biochemically, physiologically, and genetically) rats are much more like humans than they are unlike humans. But don't let your ignorance stop you from adopting ignorant beliefs.

Join you? Never. In fact, I will oppose you forcefully, and here's a certainty you can bet on: I will win because science, public health, the history of medicine, and common sense are on my side.
