What makes some people think that the food they purchase & cook at home is any safer than restaurant food?!
Answers: Germs are germs...and many foods have been recalled from supermarkets...food home or out could be full of bacteria...even the organics
Here are my personal feelings
about that:
In a restaurant, we don't know who is cooking the food. Whether they have a disease,
Tor a rash, or seeping ooze,
or an std, or worse.
We don't know if they dropped the food on the floor and rinsed it off and cooked it.
We don't know if it's old food that's been incorporated
into a mixed dish and covered
up with spices.
We don'e know if our dinner
was ordered 1 hour ago and
the previous customer didn't want it. It could have been
sitting on the stove all that time.
We don't know where the
actual food came from?
There's a lot of imported food
now that should not be eaten.
they think it's safe because they are the one who prepared and cooked it.. and you won't harm yourself,, will you??
That's true but some people feel safer eating food at home as they go through the whole cooking process and make sure everything is safe and clean. For example, they know that the food is washed clean enough, or they know that the food is cooked long enough etc.
At both restaurant and at home you start with the same raw ingredients. However, unless it is an open kitchen, you have to be trusting that the restaurant is following proper sanitary practices, such as washing hands, using a fresh spoon for each taste, etc.
Theres always the threat of some greasy spotty waiter sneezing on your food between the kitchen to your table
Ever see the signs in restaurant restrooms stating "Employees Must Wash Hands Before Returning to Work"? They are there for a reason. I don't want anyone that has to be reminded to wash their hands after using the toilet to be handling MY food!
Cooking properly kills the normal bacteria. But, at home we can control the safe handling, refrigeration, etc., of the food. And, we can make sure we wash our hands often enough!
like the lady above me said, cooking food to the correct temp will kill all bacteria. Anyways let those people think there doing themselves a favor.
good day
gooooooooo tarheelsssssssssssssss
well at least you know for sure that the items have been refrigerated properly, have been washed, and have been prepared to your level of comfort. Nothing is foolproof. I personally don't have a problem with restaurant food; its just that a lot of my home cooked food taste better.
Most cases of food poisoning are in the home by incorrect food handling and cooking.
That speaks volumes about many peoples culinary skills. I believe it should be taught in schools as it was in my day. (unfortunately boys weren't taught)
