Who follows the food guide pyramid?!


Question: I mean, it is so lame. all the serving sizes are ridiculous. besides, why do we have to eat food that is disgusting such as vegetables and some fruits.
i am a heavy dairy, meat and grain eater. most of my diet consists of that and LOTS of sweets and fats. i eat cake, cookies, or whatever "junk" food i can find everyday. and i dont mean small sizes. the average size of cake i eat is about 3 inches outside length.
i am 15 years old, 5'5", i weigh 106 lb and i work out for about 45 minutes 3 days a week.. i dont know what the big deal is about all this "eat healthy" fad. i eat junk food a lot but i am healthy.
besides i am going to eat what i like and enjoy that part of life, not making myself suffer eating yucky foods


so what is the big deal? those sizes on the food guide pyramid are huge and most dont even help (like the grains)

But u will never always be a teenager. ur metabolism will become slower and the food wont burn as quick and u'll get fat. If u eat healthy now, you will build up ur body. and all that cake isnt good either. i dont think u have to worry about blood pressure or heart dieases right now since u do exercise but what about diabetes? Chips arent that bad but they can ruin ur kidneys if u eat too much of them because of the oil they use. As for McDonalds and other fast food, those are not bad if u eat thrm once in a while...but if u eat them everday...well, they made this documentary about this really healthy guy who exercised everyday and then ate McDonalds everyday for about a month to see what would happen...he had kidney diesases, heart diesaese, etc. and why is diabetes or kidney dieseases so bad? blindness, amputation, pain, immobility, etc. You are of course, free to eat whatever u want but u should put some vegetables and fruits in ur diet. u dont have to eat the ones u dont like...just eat some of the ones u like. u dont have to eat 5 a day or anything...just eat some. and no i dont follow the fruit pyramid. personally i find the food pyramid unhelpful. Just eat some of everything, not too much, not too little.

But, you could live longer. You cant still be healthy if all you eat is fat and sugar. I eat healthy (not so 'yucky' after all -- how old are you, 10?) and tonight I will enjoy my baked doritos and a butterfinger for my treat. It makes me appreciate more.

I think that the food guide tells people to eat too much food.

But this doesn't mean you shouldn't eat well. I agree, some foods that are healthy taste disgusting. I like strawberries a lot, and sometimes i put whipped cream or sugar ontop of them to make them more enjoyable. I try to eat a variety of foods from different categories, and save room for some dessert, too.

What you need to do is find something that is healthy that you do like, even if you have to coat it in chocolate or sugar before you eat it. You still get the health benifits!

You should still make sure you eat well. Yes, you should enjoy life and there isn't anything at all wrong with that. But if you eat lots of unhealthy food now, and not enough good food, you won't enjoy life later. People will mock you because you'll be obese and unhealthy, and you will not be able to do all the things you probably would want to do.
