Diffrent types of milk..?!
Answers: skim,2%,1%,whole etc.,what do they mean & what are the benefits? What would be a good milk for me to drink if i am a vegetarian?& my mom is a diabetic & has to start eating better her doctor told her to not drink whole milk...
Whole milk is just that, nothing taken away. Skimmed milk is where the butterfat/cream is skimmed off, and the percentage marked on the bottle is the amount they've left behind, eg 2% means that there's barely a trace left in. They add extra vitamins to skimmed milk usually, You can get semi-skimmed that leaves about half the cream in it, (50%) So if you mom has diabetes, she'll have to follow a low-fat diet, skimmed is perfect for her. UHT (or long life) milk is Ultra High Temperature milk, means that for a few seconds it's heated to kill off bacteria and make it last longer.
Alternatives to dairy milk are things like goats milk, and soya milk, made from soya beans, but they are an acquired taste!
Whole, skim, 2%, 1%, fat free. All refer to the fat content in milk. Fat free is the healthiest.
you should probably try soy milk, its so healthy for you, also, if you don't like the bean flavor from the soy bean, get the vanilla flavored, its so good.
Skim, 1%,2% and all the flavored 1s
