Left my bread to improve for too long?!


Question: i left my dough in the airing cupboard overnight after the second proving by mistake! do you think it'll be ok to bake? it seems a bit hard on the top....

No. Start all over.

no it will be rancid if you want to get your bread to rise before cooking it keep it covered and leave it in a warm kitchen side board we do and our bread dough rises

you;d be better off leaving it in the fridge, it will still rise so keep it covered, sounds unlikely I know, next time you make bread put 1/2 in the fridge & the other 1/2 in the airing cupboard & compare how long they take to prove.

No the bread will collapse. The gluten in bread is what holds it together and gives it shape. When the bread is proofing the gluten stretches and if it's left too long it'll break so the bread will lose its shape.
