I would like to open a eatery that serves just hotdogs and hamburgers. How can I achieve this?!

Question: I live in Dallas,but where I am from in Montgomery,Alabama there is a place called Hamburger King. They mainly serve hamburgers and hotdogs. They have a crowd outside the door every day. I teach school, but I would like to own a small establishment like the Hamburger King. How can I achieve this and how much will it probaly cost? Thanks

good day,
So you live in Dallas Texas...I am in San Antonio.
1st do market analyze, who is your target market?
2 location, location, location...
3 Finding the building
4 Equipment needed( I have outfitted 5 restaurants, Go to auction)
5 Menu and costs (you get your food providers list and find your products hours of operation
6 Budget ( staff-food cost- overhead(rent,electric,water,sewer) Advertising
It sound like the one in Alabama has been around along time. You will have to do allot of advertising..Word of mouth, is long way off. Have you ever been in the Business before...
I was a GM for 23 years... your in for lots and lots of work>
Wish you the best...

youll need to go to your council get a license to conduct a eating house. and register a business name.

you will probably have to do a food course and all of that.

advertisement will need alot of work and it will cost about $100, 000 - $200,000 when u consider the place, the staff, supplies, and cooking equipment

The way you can achieve this is by earning your business license.Then you have to make a business plan. You have to thoroughly type out your goals, and you also have to state your growth. Then, go to a local bank near you and ask for a loan. Best of luck!

I would look into a cart first if at all possible. The are relatively cheaper to get into and the rent is not complicated. You will need permits though.

Whatever you do, you should do a basic business plan to figure out how much you need to sell to break even and figure out profit/loss.

The formula I use is Pi=R-F-CR

Where
Pi = Profit
R = Revenue
F = Fixed Costs(Rent, Utilities, Labor)
C = Cost of Sales

So say Fixed costs add up to $2000
and you're average food costs+paper are 25%
F= $2000
C=0.25

Solve for R where Pi =0

0=R - 2000 - 0.25R
2000=.75R
2666=R

You would need to gross $2666/month to break even in this situation.

To do a regular start -up where you enter a store front with no kitchen is VERY expensive. You have to put in a fire suppression system, vent hood, stoves, plumbing, etc. That is in the 50K+ range and then you are still on the hook for rent.

If you can take over an existing storefront with a kitchen and need to buy only equipment, get it second hand. People who buy new equipment are throwing their money away.

It sounds simple, which is good. Just remember it's easier to start small and grow than to start big and shrink.
