Black specks on my life cerial?!


Question: Today i went in the kitchen and grabbed a box of life cerial. When i poored it into a bowl i noticed some of the cerial had black specks on it. I live in a really clean house, and its still winter. Its freezing theres still snow! Is this bug eggs, or a natural thing with the cerial. I tossed the box out still wondering though dont wanna get sick or something from eating it in the past ...

the cereal was burnt!!
it could be iron , they often overfortify with iron
