Can i use an oil stone to sharpen kitchen knives?!

Question: or would a wet stone be better?

Answers: or would a wet stone be better?

Either works fine. I'm partial to the wet stone, because it makes less of a mess. Both are just used as a lubricant. I've used both and pretty much got the same results.

go for the oil stone...but a fine one

either make sure you clean them before use

Either but using a steel regularly is better.

You can use an oil stone - remember to wash it though - the knife that is, my husband didn't - yuk. LOL

whetstones can usually be used with water or oil.

As a rule of thumb once you have used a stone with oil you shouldn't then use it with water later on.

If you are sharpening kitchen knives it's a good idea to use edible oil.

Put the knife down and no one will get hurt son.
