What a nice guy you are! I would recommend making 1 nice entree and having easy side dishes. One possible menu I can think of:

appitizer - place a cherry tomato, a basil leaf and a marinated mozzzerella ball (you can buy them marinated) on a long tooth pick. This requires no baking, can be made ahead, looks great and is delicious.

a special drink: mimosas are easy - just OJ and champagne or a nice bottle of wine

dinner: orange glazed chicken (see recipe below) this is very easy and looks impressive with the orange slice on top, baked potatoes and green beans or broccoli. To make the veggies easy - look for steamfresh veggies in the freezer section. They steam right in the bag and turn out great.

dessert: either buy mini tarts at the bakery or serve cubed pound cake and strawberries that can be dipped in a make ahead chocolate sauce, check out: http://www.makedinnereasy.com/chocolate-...
coffee with Bailey's is a nice touch too.

Prep ahead Tip: Make glaze and cool slightly before spooning over chicken. Assemble dish, cover and refrigerate until ready to bake.

Good Luck!

goto Carrabas, or outback and get something good in takeout. Take it home, put it on a plate and decorate the plate like cooks do. Put a little garlic in a pan so it smells good when she comes in.

If you get beef, get red wine
chicken or fish - white

Muahahaha

For real, get take out and put it on a plate. Just bake rolls (the premade kind of course) or garlic bread so the house smells like you've been cooking and your all set.

And as a girl, I wouldn't be any less impressed if you didn't cook it yourself but if you went through the trouble of making it look like you cooked.

Lasagna

seriously, people are scared to cook chickens, but they are so easy to make, its like a turkey...but easier.
get a 5-6 lb chicken, keep it in the fridge when you get home. there are even directions on the bag the chicken comes in!
heat oven to 350 and put in oven based on cooking time/weight.
if you get a purdue oven roaster it has a little thing that pops out when its done!
just remember to season w salt, pepper, and olive oil, cook it in a metal pan. you will put the chicken in the oven and the oven will do the rest. get a few simple sides like rice ( which is impossible to mess up) and some gravy and ur good..oh and some biscuits...good im gettin hungry,
good luck if you need a recipe let me kno!
