Do hot/cold travel cups ever lose their ability to keep hot or cold?!

Question: Yes, if you get a cheap one then the hot/cold does not last for too long, but if you spend a bit more money, it does last longer. We have a thermos by a company called Nissan (can be purchased on amazon) and the coffee/tea keeps warm for around 6-7 hours. However, after that, though it keeps warm, its not piping hot.
