Difference in types of salmon?!


Question: What is the difference,(especially taste wise) between farm raised salmon and sockeye salmon??

I personally perfer the sockeye salmon. I think not only does it taste better, but the big difference is the texture.

Here is some interesting facts between the two..after reading this I don't think I like farm raised anymore!

There is not much difference in taste, to most people. Farm raised salmon possibly taste a little milder, as sockeye that are caught are usually mature fish on their way back to their home rivers for spawning.

Farm raised salmon are also often fed dye to get the flesh to an acceptable "pink/orange" color, whereas wild salmon flesh will have color naturally, although it may vary somewhat, fish to fish.

Farm raised salmon are fed....well... a processed food made for fish. Farm raised fish taste foul. I catch my own fish and I will never try anything else.
