Juice of a lemon?!

Question: I am making lemonade from fresh lemons and I'm not sure how many to buy. I want to make it with fresh lemons not bottled lemon juice.

About how much juice is in one lemon?

I need 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice.

A lot of it will depend on the size and ripenss of the lemon. I had a nice sized one the other day and didn't get 1/2 cup, so I'd go with buying about six to make sure you have enough, you can always use the ones that you didn't juice to garnish with.

Tip: when juicing the lemons, to maximize quantitiy of jiuce put the lemon in the microwave for a few seconds, then roll it on the counter top with the palm of your hand, pressing down slightly.

Can vary a little depending on how fresh and juicey the lemons are. I've had some that barely gave up 1 tablespoon. But I usually figure about 1/4 of a cup of juice per lemon - so you'd need 6.

I think the rule of thumb is about 1/4 cup of juice (or less) from each lemon, so six lemons should do. You could always get a few extra just in case. :)

you can add a little bit of lemon or lime zest to your lemonade to increase the taste just watch how much because it can become more sour the longer it sits but if you drink it right away it's super tasty and refreshing.

I usually get about 2 Tbsp. of juice from one lemon. (Totally agree with either having them at room temp or nuking and then rolling them.) Depending on the size, I'd definitely go with 6-8 lemons. They're expensive right now, but if you don't use them for the lemonade, you can always make a salad dressing or lemon cheesecake.
