Why do we feel the urge to drink water after eating something sweet?!

Question: You have made a smart observation. The body has a "thirsty" reaction when the ratio of water gets lower than the amount of electrolytes (such as sodium, chloride, and potassium) and other nutrients (sugar and other carbohydrates included) -- a condition called "hypotonic" or low water. Perspiration, exercise, and digestion deplete water. You sense the imbalance and the result is "I'm thirsty".

Well I do, to rinse my mouth of the sugar that's bad for my perfect sparkling pearly-white teeth!!!

Well, for me, sometimes that happens after eating salty things like chips.

I don't, I usually eat a potato chip or a piece of cheese. After eating catfish or fried shrimp(which I don't eat that often) I crave something to drink.
