OK to find shot in a pheasant that you are eating?!
Answers: Is that normal? I found some pellets when I was eating a pheasant that I got from the butcher. I would have though that it is not OK, because you could at least get a terrible shock by biting into it.
Always inspect game birds before you cook them for small roundish slits or wounds for shot. Gives you a chance to be a surgeon, LOL probing for the shot! No one wants to break off a tooth, and if you don't inspect, it will eventually happen. Yeah, nasty shock, indeed!
It happens quite frequently in game birds. Usually they have a sign near them saying 'may contain...'
Although its not the nicest thing to find in your pheasant it could be worse.... But it may be worth saying to your butcher next time you see him/ her.
hehe well its not that nice but its perfectly normal i mean the bird got shot so there would be pellets in there... because you got the meat from the butchers that would be why - if your brought it elsewhere then they would probably have to be removed for health and safety reasons etc
