How come american mayonnaise are like... sweet?!
Answers: why did they get it wrong?
American foods are processed and loaded with sugar and all kinds of preservatives to keep their shelf life longer....unfortunately, it has caused a lot of health problems in our society.
Hi,
the companies who produce the food, adjust the taste of nearly every product to the likings of the regional market. This is done with a group of food testers. They get different flavors which they try and rank in a lab and then pick the one they like.
For example chocolate is softer and melts quicker in Germany because apparently thats how they like it. So for some reason the mayonnaise with the sweet taste must be preferred in America.
Best,
Simon

Beause they add sweeteners - check the ingredients.
Real Mayo consists of an emulsion of egg yolks and olive oil flavoured with wine vinegar or lemon juice and salt and pepper.
Nothing else! Period!
Often food manufacturers add sugar and/or sweeteners to their products to make them more attractive so that they sell more and, of course, make more money. As sweet things are very 'moreish', people will use and buy more products containing sugar.
American companies put sugar in pretty much everything... is it any wonder obesity is going up?
Yes Americans use sugar in many things don't ask me why because i have no clue i guess its because we have had such a dependence on it for years. The only thing i can think of is that sugar is a natural preserve which keeps the mayo longer than it would with out it?
It depends on the brand you buy. It sounds like you didn't get real mayo. It sounds like you got Miracle Whip instead. Why not just make your own? It's really simple and easy. You can adjust ingredients to your taste. Hand blenders work really well in making mayo. Look up recipes on the foodnetwork.
