I left burrito meat on the counter overnight?!

Question: I made burritos last night for supper and put the leftovers in a dish. Since it was still hot, I left it on the counter to cool down. But I forgot to put it in the fridge and it sat out all night. Should I through it away or will it be ok to eat?

its ok to eat.. i do it all the time.. i leave the left overs on the counter overnight just to make sure they've cooled down completely.. we put the stuff in the fridge the following morning. and we eat it later that day.

Cooked or not who cares is it worth getting sick for a day or two over 5 bucks worth of burrito meat? Report It

  • yes but it willl be VERY dry.

To be on the safe side don't eat it! It might have Salmonella or watever ya call it

Well.....I would eat it myself....but....I wouldn't feed it to anyone else, so I don't recommend it.

throw it away cause you can never trust meat expecially with all the diseases going around. just to be safe i would throw it away....

nothing left out over night is good

    chuck it

i would throw it away if it has meat or eggs in it.. im sorry that you cant have your burrito

It would be safest to throw it away.

    DONT DO IT

Toss it. Meat should not be left in room temperature for more than 4 or 6 hrs.....4 to be on the safe side.

    dont eat it.

Throw it away. It might be ok but I wouldn't try anything with meat...

It will be fine if you heat it up on the stove for 5 to 10 minutes!!!
i hope this helps i do it all the time when i take care of things because i forgot!!

Throw it away. I can't believe you would even need to ask.

toss it ...dont get food poisoning !

    Get rid of it.

ehhhhhh.....might still be okay....but I wouldnt eat it. See...its kinda like the 5 second rule when you drop something.....the dropped item may still be okay to eat.....but would you?

throw it out... its better to be safe then sorry

meat left out over night is not good to eat it will gather bacteria and has potential to get people veryy sick

    avoid it

    dont take a chance

When in doubt - throw it out!

That's what my mom always says, but in reality just one night will probably be fine, as long as it smells okay and looks okay. Salmonella is in poultry and is caused because it is not cooked well enough, not due to leaving it out all night.

It will be ok to eat just reheat it and add a little water to it and reheat it and it will be like new

Depends on how warm your house is; but you shouldn't eat it just in case

    Throw it away.
Spoiled food is easy to spot since it usually looks and smells bad, but food poisoning is another story. Food poisoning is a bacteria that cannot be tasted, seen, or smelled. Bacteria will thrive at room temperature or in lukewarm food, so do not allow hot foods to be at room temperature for more than two hours; to keep hot foods hot that means keep it above 140° or higher.
if there are, any doubts about leftover foods throw it away because it is not worth getting sick over.

This will certainly be a source of food poisoning now. Do not eat it, nor give it to any pets.

The best rule of thumb for any food is, "If in doubt, throw it out!"

Ask yourself if its worth 5 dollars of ground meat to get yourself sick over. If the answer to the my question is yes, then eat it. If its no then throw that away and get some fresh

stuff! If you have to go to the doctor its going to cost you alot more than just 5 bucks.

Unless your kitchen stayed fairly cold all night, you'd be better to treat Fido with it; they can handle it .

    Uh. weird question. no

    trash it

I have accidentally done something like this before. The next day, the beef smelled very bad, so we threw it out. You should do the same - it's not worth the risk that you could eat something that has unhealthy germs breeding on it.
