I want to change my breakfast to oatmeal, but what kind is right?!
I really appreciate the help!
Answers: I've been dieting and trying to get in better physical shape for the last 3 months, and things are going great! I recently read from MensHealth.com that oatmeal is a great breakfast that really speeds up your metabolism in the morning. My only question is what kind of oatmeal? Should I have regular oatmeal (no sugar or other stuff) with hot water? What brand?
I really appreciate the help!
Plain oatmeal is best, you don't need all the added sugar. If you want more taste, add some sugar and/or cinnamon yourself.
You can also make it with milk to add a little protein.
Steel cut oatmeal is probably best, but any instant oatmeal is fine, too. Just buy the plain store brand, make it according to the package directions, then add whatever you like. Some fruit and/or nuts would be good.
Any breakfast will rev up your metabolism in the morning, oatmeal just happens to be a healthier choice.
you can eat regular or flavored...the benefits of the oats outweigh any small amount of sweetener that is found in the flavored kind
I think any type of oatmeal is good for you. And it's yummy!
The best is regular oatmeal, sweetened with fruit.
shop a bit, comes in all kinds of flavors. or you can make your own and add whatever you like
I am a religious oatmeal-for-breakfast guy and have been for years. I've tried them all - everything from McCann's Steel Cut to Red Mill to super-expensive boutique stuff, and I have to say my favorite is the standard old Quaker Oats. Be sure you get the regular version with the red on the bottom of the label and not the instant or 1-Minute version with the blue label. Studies have shown that the quick-cook versions don't have the same benefits as the standard 5-minute version, and seriously, saving four minutes in the morning is not that big of a deal anyway. Plus, the texture of the 5-minute Quaker Oats is much better than the 1-minute because the 1-minute is milled much finer.
I add a little brown sugar and vanilla soy milk to mine. It's too bland otherwise.
Oatmeal is a great fiber food. The American Heart Association recommends it, too. There are all kinds of brands, but the one that has been in the business a long time is "Quaker Oatmeal". I've eaten it all my life and I'll keep eating it. It's helped my cholesterol level stay down and that's good. Another healthy thing to eat is what they called , "Rolled Oats" It's kind of like oatmeal , but more grainie. Fiber wise you get just a little more out of this kind of Oats. Fiber is the key. Got to keep that Colon clean! You can have sugar substitutes or you can add fruits or honey to it. There's many ways to get that sweet tooth satisfied, but be healthy at the same time.
hi i am on a dite to i dont think it really matters what kind you eat just make shure that you do not eat over 2,000 cal. a day
I think that Quaker Oats oatmeal is good, they tell you how to prepare it on the container. If you want to sweeten it you can add sliced apples, raisins, brown sugar or cinnamon sugar.
