Why does a papaya have a lot of seeds?!

Answers: Why does a papaya have a lot of seeds? Please explain.

The same reason strawberries and bananas and may other fruit and vegetables do.... so when they fall off the tree or get eaten by animals the many seeds will spread and increase the chance of the seeds growing again thereby keeping the species alive.

It is a strategy employed by many plants to insure the survival of the species...more seeds more likely that one of them (or more) will end up a tree producing more papayas.

Why life cares so much about reproduction - that's a question for science or the religion sections.
