You are part of the sugar ,glucose & artificial flavourings generation who find the taste of any natural food (free from ,sugars ,salts & sauces etc.,) to be peculiar or as you say downright nasty. Poor you ,blame your parents for permitting you to develop these tastes as a child. there is no going back now. Ah well get tucked into a couple of chocolate bars or three with a nice big sugary drink, oh go on.

Its called sugar dear the coconut in bounty has lots of added sugar

The real coconut may have been spoiled. They don't keep forever.

The coconut in candy and bags/cans has been sweetened! The real coconut is just au natural.

as somebody already said, sugar makes for a big part of the difference, also the grated coconut in a Bounty bar is dessicated coconut that has moisture added to it, making it softer and more palatable.

cuz its processed and theres alot of added ingridients like sugar

good luck

Did you try coconut juice or coconut meat? They taste very different.

Coconut juice has a special flavor that some people found very hard to accept (I like it very much). However, the coconut bars are make from coconut meat so it has very different taste. Note that the "coconut milk" is also made from coconut meat not coconut juice. And there is also so call young coconuts that have very delicate meat that you can chew easily but have a different taste than the ripe ones.

The coconuts we get, take so long to reach this country , they are not fresh. I had a fresh one , picked from the tree in Borneo, the skin was green, not brown & hairy as we know them. Absolutely delicious.
