What's that conspiracy against red skittles?!

Question: LOL? :S

Answers: LOL? :S

Red food dye used to contain trace amounts of cadmium and it was this ingredient that caused concerns. But the FDA put a halt on the use of dyes containing cadmium salts; however, many people are still allergic to red and yellow food dyes.
Some of the chemical red dyes cause cancer, allergies and DNA damage, these are some of the major contributing factors in the red food dye scares.
The other problem with some red food dyes is they have a tendency to have a bitter under taste, this is the problem, we discovered in the red "Skittles". I think now they are adding higher amounts of citric acid as a preservative & to hide that bitter aftertaste.
One of the safest yellow dyes is a spice called saffron, a tiny bit can be used to add a color, too much gives the food a bitter flavor. Saffron is very expensive.
It is better to use an organic food dye than a chemical one.
Beet juice, strawberries, raspberries & bing cherries all make excellent food dyes.
Don't work about using the juice off of the beets for coloring candies or frostings, let me assure you your desserts will not taste like beets, the sugar overpowers the taste of the beets.
You can then save the beets for a salad.

if you want you beets to be pickled, simply heat some cider vinegar and pour over the beets. Chill the beets for 3 to 4 hours before serving.( You can also add sliced onions to the beets before adding the vinegar.)

The red dye used in m&m's in the 1970's was thought to cause cancer- no one really got over that scare. All food dye is cancer-causing crap as far as I'm concerned.

A lot of peole are allergic to red food dyes.

I hate those red skitttles!!!!!
Well they taste nasty, and they cause cancer(last thing i dont think is true, just a rumoer someone made up)

The old red food dye and cancer conspiracy has raised its head, once again!
