How do you become a foodie?!

Question: You can go over the top like that guy on TV that eats bugs and small creatures on sticks - or you can cultivate your interests in learning about food. Where it comes from, what country, is it traditional? Homey everyday food? Celebration food?
If you are curious about a certain culture's food like Chinese, Thai, African, European etc read about it in cook books, magazines and better cooking shows (some of the best are shown on PBS). Then try a recipe or two and see what you think. It also helps to have Friends who are from or have family from other countries too. Thanks to some of the best cooks I have met over the years I can make great Kim Chee, yummy Pad Thai and perfect Tamales!
I have never met a really picky person who also considers themselves a 'foodie'. Of course you don't have to like everything, but at least be open enough to experiment. I am not super into sweets and desserts but would definitely try something new if I was offered.

\Do you mean cook or knowledgeable about food and cooking
I watch a lot of cooking shows and not the cooking so much as the technique They use the equipment, the history of the dish even if I'm not interested in what they are cooking in there.

you need to read all the magazines free at the library and bookstores

need to taste the items that are mentioned and you need to be patient a lot of things just are not good
