When can a baby have whole wheat?!

Question: I am on a diet where I cannot eat anything made with white flour. So instead I eat whole wheat everything. Whole wheat pasta, bread, cereal, waffles etc. My son is 8 months old. Soon he will be eating some of the same things as I do. When can he have whole wheat? I am worried about food allergies.

Start him off with Cream of Wheat. You can give a small serving (about half the amount you would get in a baby food jar). Serve this with something he normally eats - make sure to not offer anything else new for the first few days after introducing this. That is how you isolate it if it is a problem. If he tolerates it well, he should be okay with wheat products. Just watch for additives in some of them.

Good luck and have fun with your little one! They are great at that age!!

Try asking this question in the parenting section (if you haven't already). Most likely, you could get good advice over there.

Or you can always ask your pediatrician.

I don't know that whole wheat is more likely to develop allegies than white flours. I would follow the guildlines that basically restrict kids to low allergenic foods and no honey before before two years of age. But I believe you can add whole wheat at the same time as any other wheat.

I'm sorry but i'm not sure i do not have a child yet. i'm just trying to become pregnant. Ask this question in parent/parenting on here.
