Why do people enjoy spicy food?!
Answers: I myself love it but don't really understand why some of us like the spicy sensation. I can understand why people don't like it, because it isn't a pleasent feeling for them, but why is it nice to us who do like it?
Because capsaicin (the ingredient in spicy things) causes a "pain" reaction in your mouth. Your brain then releases endorphins--the body's natural pain fighter. Endorphins are the feel good drugs that your brain naturally produces and you feel better after eating spicy stuff.
WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?
dont know about others but i crave it!!like the spicey korean beef w veggies..or ot salsa over mexican dinner.we eat so many bland foods in america thai ,korean andmexican are out of the ordinary..something different...
cos it gives us much pleasure.
i think maybe its just that sensation in our mouths that makes us like it. its just a sort of a PING u know? u dont expect it sometimes. and the sensation is just pleasant. but for others the feeling isnt a sensation their brain makes them think that their mouth is on fire lol.i just like the sensation it gives ur mouth when u bite into it.
it's tasty and good
I prefer only like mildly spiced foods, but there is one food that I like that is spicy I like, and that is Grippos BBQ potato chips.. I eat 'mild' salsa almost daily. I suppose every ones taste is different. My husband likes foods very spicy, but he was raised by his parents preparing a lot of spicy foods. I was not. Maybe it's what your parent introduce to us as children.
-gasp-
Because it is something different. Can you imagine foods without a little bit of heat/spice to kick them up? Same-old, same-old. The spice helps to bring out the flavors of the food - it enhances them, even changes them a little, but it makes it different than the ordinary foods.
i'm guessing it's similar to ppl liking different flavours or the happy feeling from eating chocolates...
probably the feeling of satisfaction triggered by enzymes/hormones/any mumble-jumbo that goes to the brain.
