I hate when that happens...Even worse when they put dish soap in with veggies...then the dish soap somehow opens and gets all over the veggies...my poor students have to put up with that!

Because they don't care because it's not their food.

They never do that to me... you must have a negative attitude and they punished you for it.

well they are making what 5 or 6 bucks an hour and they don;t care plus I don;t think they are hired based on their SAT scores

i hate it when they do that...

lol refund

cause they slow and they don't care. they just there to make money

If your job was to put stuff in a bag for someone else for minimum wage, would you really care that much?

Just to piss you off...I used to work in a grocery store and would do things like that also to those customers who were not polite to me...that's what you get!!! LOL!!

No offense to bag packers but -
because most of them are either complete retards with an IQ lower than 2
or
they are depressed emo school kids stuck in a dead end job so to take their frustration out, they do annoying things like this to pass their suffering on to others...then go and slit their wrists or something....

They don't get paid much and they probably really don't even like their job. They were never taught how to bag groceries before. Just pay attention next time you go and maybe say something then.

ahh what a dumb question..they are STUPID. thats why. why else would you work as a grocery bagger? because you arent smarter to do anything else. what i do is group my groceries on the belt in categories. like bread and chips together, boxes like cereal in one area...then they will hopefully be smart enough to know that you want all that food near or in the same bag!!

because most stores don't give official "training" on how to bag groceries because it should be common sense, some just don't have it.

Why do you think they're baggers?

They aren't supposed to do that. When I unload my groceries on the belt, I always put all the heavy, hard items first and I don't even put bread, eggs or produce on the belt until the very last, that way the bagger has just the heavy stuff to bag and then at the end comes the soft items. I haven't had any problems when doing it this way.

My son is a grocery clerk and believe me for the minimum wages her earns...he works his butt off and most of the time the customers are quite rude, so maybe you caught one having a bad day like we all do.

Would you care for 6.50 an hour?

Because they are so lazy some time and don't want to take their time

Next time you go to the store you may need to say something to the bagger, and let them know to separate the delicates and bag them until the last. Or you may need to talk to the store supervisor and let him know what is happening to your delicate food items like the bread and can incident. Anyways you are paying for your food to be edible in the best possible way. Besides most supermarkets give their baggers a brief training of how to bag foods. There is nothing wrong with saying something to the bagger, or the person who is cashiering and let them know to that you would like your delicate items like bread, eggs, taco shells, or any other items that are delicate separated and bagged until the end. If you say it with a smile and let them know that you went home with your bread all bent out of shape, and it was not a pleasant surprise, then they may do what you want, plus they may actually start doing this for the other customers as well. If that person takes offense then you may need to ask to see the store manager/supervisor, and let them know that you are not trying to offend anyone, but you just paid for your groceries and your bread and what nots were all bent out of shape, and how would they like it if they went home with their bread all bent out of shape because of the ignorant bagger, well you may need to leave the ignorant bagger out, but you know what I mean...Customer service motto...the customer is always right.

Our local grocery store, called Woodmans, does such an awesome job of bagging. Not only do they not squish the bread, they bag frozen items together, canned items together, eggs separately, etc. It's like they know exactly where things go in your kitchen when you put your groceries away! I think everyone should train their employees like this!

Perhaps to punish you for your questionable taste in bread

It's a protest against the rising cost of food. And if that's not it, she didn't give a crap or wasn't paying attention. Just be thankful that she's not doing anything important.
