If you only had $60.00?!
Answers: If you had $60.00 to purchase food for one month. What items would you buy and why. If you could break down the prices.
Peanut butter and jelly, bologna, dried beans, two or three pound boneless ham to cook with beans, spaghetti (or other pasta) and sauce, couple of pkgs of shredded cheese, ground meat, chicken legs, potatoes, whole carrots, canned green beans. Buy bread loaves at bread outlets.
PB& J & bologna w/bread for lunches.
Toast for breakfast.
You could get eight or ten meals at least out of dried beans and ham.
If you cook the pasta and combine it with sauce and cheese, you could bake it into a caserole and eat on that for several meals.
Fried Chicken for something different, vegies to round out the menu.
Of course, you could also do hamburgers and fries and probably think up lots of other things...
If you have a few $ left over, buy tea or koolaid to drink - oatmeal or cereal and milk for breakfast and snack. Or fruit.
As for prices, the way grocery costs are escalating, that's hard to do, but I'd spend $25-30 on meat, $10 on pasta and fixings and leave the rest for the rest. You might even get by on less for meat and save for something else.
You probably wouldn't want to spend it all at once either - save $15 or $20 for later in the month when you're sick of what you already have. It'll be kind of boring, but you can do it!

I dont know about breaking down the prices, but I would buy bulk products like dry beans, oats, rice, pastas etc. I would buy a big bag of cheap apples. For veggies... man with 60 bucks your going to have a hard time.
I would do my best to rearrange my budget so I could spend at least 120 a month.
Good luck!

Pinto beans 50cents a pound 5 lbs $2.50.

Nobody can break down the prices for you unless they live in your same city or country. You'd have to forget about buying any beverages and drink water for the entire month. Next, you'd have to buy uncooked rice and beans in bulk style, which would be the cheapest way to go. You might put aside $1.00 for each week to treat yourself to a taco or hamburger on the "special menu" at some fast food joint. Other than what I listed, you might go to a 99cent store for something like canned fruit and vegetables to be used sparingly.
I would by shotgun shells and go hunting.
