Do they still sell chewing tobacco ,why is it different to smoking tobacco, what does it taste like.?!
Answers: They do still sell chewing tobacco, but more often in southern states. Chewing tobacco comes in different flavors, but most of them taste sweet. I want to say that most chewing tobacco companies, Redman, Beechnut, and Levi Garret, use some type of molasses as the main flavoring. Which of course explains the sweet flavor. Now sometimes people mistake snuff for chewing tobacco. Snuff, which is a fine cut tobacco leaf that you hold in your lip, comes in a round tin or plastic can. It doesn't have one specific flavor because most companies have many flavors, original, apple, berry, whiskey, etc. It can be tougher to get used to snuff as opposed to chew, which is pretty easy to handle. As someone who has and still uses both, don't start, it is one of the toughest things to quit.
It can be very strong-DON'T SWALLOW!!!-and yes you can still buy this stuff. I used to chew Red Man loose tobacco. I gave it up because the risk of mouth cancer. I have seen a couple of guys without a lower jaw because of this. Nicotine is a contact killer in the garden we make a "tea" of tobacco and water to spray on aphids. Sudden death! Have a clue?
Yes, chewing tobacco is as popular as ever.
Why is it different from smoking tobacco? It isn't except for the delivery method. Some people chew because it is difficult for them to take smoking breaks or they have pressure at home not to stink up the house. However, chewing is a sloppy business, with spitting and stained teeth being the order of the day.
The nicotine is the same. It is absorbed through the mucous membranes. While the lungs do not suffer the same way if the user chooses to chew instead of smoke, there are similar risks----mouth and throat cancer, stomach cancer, high blood pressure, tooth loss, stinky breath.
Chewing tobacco comes in flavors to choose from, and it tastes like tobacco----chew on tobacco from a cigarette and see for yourself.
