On the ad is says that there are about 11 calories in a Malteaser. Is that 11 calories or 11 kilocalories?!

Question: The two terms are frequently used to mean kilocalories. Apparently there's about 4 joule of energy in a calorie. If the ad means kilocalrie then that means that there are about 44 thousand joule of energy in a Malteaser. Confused? I certainly am! Help!!!

just calories, which is the word used with food.

Get a life kid

In the US, we use calorie, but in Europe and Asia, they use kilocalorie. The measurement is identical, but should not be confused with the calorie used in physics or thermodynamics.

Don't worry about it ! You have probably used up the 11 calories trying to find out what it means anyway, so just go ahead and eat the malteeser!
Just for the record though, I always thought that kilojoules were something to do with energy, anyway I always look at the calories (Kcal) as this is a lower number! I am soooo shallow!
