Should I eat these if they are past the expiration date?!

Question: I have these hostess 100 calorie pack muffin things. The expiration date says best if used by Feb 14th, there is no year so I dunno what year. Is it okay to eat them or should I not?

A good mums motto, when it doubt, chuck it out, I hate wasting food myself cause their are so many hungry people out there, but that doesnt mean you should endanger people by giving it to them, a lot of companies only use it as a best by date and you can eat it afterwards, but I wouldnt risk it!

I'd go with no! Dont risk it!

Don' eat them....you newer know.....

don't do it unless you want to be ill

better not...
did it once and had the worst stomach flu that made me loose 17kilos in a week!!!

It won't hurt you....no worries.

A best by date is not the same thing as an expiration date. For example Pepperidge Farms has an outlet store near me and they have signage that guarantees freshness 6 months past the "Best By Date" . That being said, if you don't know what year you bought your snacks in you 1. Should not eat them and 2. Clean out the kitchen cabinets more often.

its okay if it doesnt say "expire date"
its okay if it does say "best if used by" but dont eat it if its like too over dated

Seeing as today is April 4th and the company recommended that you use the product by Feb. 4th......naw don't eat. They could have used milk products when making them.

But some foods can be eaten after the expiration date. I have called the company for canned goods such as Campbells Soup and Libby brand canned veggies. Some companies said I could comfortably eat the canned vegetable product 2 years after the date on the can. But that's canned goods.....
I would definately not trust eating bread, or bread products, drinking milk or eating milk products and/or dairy after the expiration date.

The exp. year is probably 2008. I doubt they could hurt you or make you sick if you ate them now, but they may taste a little stale.

See if they look or smell bad, that's a better indicator than sell by date, but if they've got meat in then best not to eat them.

i was always told never eat food past its date but then i was told that the date is only a suggestion and food does keep past that date. personally its never worth the risk and i would just throw them out.

Chuck em out

There are a lot of preservatives in those muffins. If they smell ok and don't have any mould on them, they're probably all right. If you have a weak stomach at all, you might want to pass though. If they were bakery muffins I'd say pitch them.

I would pitch them. My man would take a nibble, if they didn't taste funny, he would eat the whole thing.

if today was feb. 15th maybe but no way its too long

Hmm.
Seems to me that this is one of those ABC lessons of adulthood. Did you miss that day of class? Maybe you were home sick with food poisoning.
