I was a manager and was outside smoking when someone told me they had done it, if I had seen them I would have fired them on the spot. It was the food for her boyfriends ex. I had never stooped that low, but I have been known to dump a few packets of salt in someones taco that pissed me off and made it taste like crap.

they do if you piss them off

I've worked at a few fast food franchises, and I have seen people's food spat in, but both times I've seen it, the worker was on his last day, and wanted to go out with a bang.

I think that is so wrong. I worked at Starbucks years ago, and when people annoyed me I just gave them decaf, but I could never put anything gross in their drink that could make them ill, that's just wrong.

Lord, I hope not. I had McDonald's for lunch today. I am sure some people do, especially if the boss is a jerk. My nephew is a chef, and he said he'd never do that because it would be disrespectful to his food.

I've seen worse in food factorys on Friday evenings.

I've been working in kitchens for a long time and I can tell you that yes, it goes on, but it's mostly when people send the food back for not good reason. I've also seen food being picked up from the floor and served, we call it the '5 second rule', that is that if you pick up the food in less than 5 seconds it is safe, although I don't think that health and safety will see it that way, lol.

I have worked in many restaurants where you'd be lucky if spit was the only thing people put in food when they were angry! It's absolutely disgusting what people do for revenge. I don't even like going out to eat anymore because of what I've seen, and if I do, I am very nice to my waiter/waitress!
